: Contrary to reports that the film will get an Adults Only certificate because of lead stars Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor using objectionable language in the initial promos of the film, producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakkth Ishq has been granted a U/A certificate by the Censor Board. Says Nadiadwala, “Every producer always make four to five trailers for a film. Since the Censors had objection to the first promo that we aired we have dropped it and are now using another one. The film has been granted a U/A certificate, which is as good as a U certificate.” Kambakkth Ishq also stars Hollywood biggies Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards and Brandon Routh playing themselves, which is a first for a Hindi film. Nadiadwala insists that their inclusion was no gimmick and said, “Hollywood is the backdrop of the film as Akshay plays a Hollywood stuntman. Their presence was imperative for authenticity.” As for the highly-publicised Carmen Electra song that was to be filmed on Akshay Kumar and her being left out of the film, Nadiadwala says. “We had an option to include her in the film. We will feature Carmen in some other project.”
About giving Sabir Khan the chance to direct the film made at an astronomical budget of Rs 75 crore, he reasons, “Sabir has assisted me in my earlier films like Mujhse Shaadi Karoge and I know his ability. So when he came up with the story idea of KI, I thought it was fantastic.”
Nadiadwala is confident of his film and hopes to recover its huge cost. “The film will be a very interesting and exciting cinematic experience for the audience.” As for the Akshay Kumar film Chandini Chowk To China’s failure having any repercussions on this film, Nadiadwala says, “Akshay has seen phenomenal success in the last few years and one failure is not going to affect his popularity. The day filmmakers start thinking about a star’s last flop, it is they who will be the losers.”
