MKMJA is a film that celebrates life in all its aspects. The film’s main theme revolves around ‘the power of dreams’ and it explores the journey of the characters in achieving their dreams. It capsulates the journey of Raima and Arbaaz who play a couple and how they move to a big city to achieve their own personal dreams. The film revolves around Maya (Raima Sen), her husband Vikram (Arbaaz Khan) and their 8 -year old daughter Priya. Maya aspires to be a singer but her dreams get shattered when she gets married and her husband forbids her from pursuing a career in singing. She accepts everything that he husband tells her until one day, he discovers that her husband is having an affair. Eventually she realises how shallow and empty her life is and tries to revive her interest in singing. Jai (Randeep Hooda) helps her achieve her dreams but her husband is against all this and gives her an ultimatum that she either pursue her career or save the marriage. How she goes on to fulfill her dreams is what the story is about.
The film has everything from romance to innovation . According to me, portraying 18 characters and putting it all together was a challenge. Raima, Randeep and Arbaaz have played huge roles in completing this dream as this is my first film.
Randeep Hooda
“In Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye I play a kind of man every woman would want, and every man would want to be. My character Jai is funny, quirky and a tongue-in cheek romantic. The reason I accepted this role was because it was something that I hadn’t done before. It is a fantastic character with a lot of scope to perform. Also after Monsoon Wedding with Mira Nair, it was fun working with a female director. I hope people come to see the film and realise that fantasies and dreams do come true.”
Raima Sen
“There was this scene in the film where I was auditioning for a singing competition before Javed Akhtar, Alka Yagnik and Lalit Pandit. The scene was very realistic for me because I really respect all three judges. I was very happy that the scene turned out really well. Incidentally they aren’t just making cameos but are the lyricist, singer and music director of the film.”
Arbaaz Khan
“In a romantic scene in the film, Raima was to woo me and about 100 candles were lit up around both of us. In the beginning everything seemed normal. But after sometime the heat from those hundred candles started becoming a bit too much and that made me nervous. Anything can happen on the sets when there are a hundred candles lit around you. But Raima and my director Madhureeta made the scene very comfortable for me. Clearly the scene was far from being romantic.”
THE BUZZ
The highlight of the movie is Randeep Hooda playing 18 entertaining characters ranging from Dharmendra, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan to Zorro, James Bond and Humphrey Bogart which is the highest number any actor has played ever.
