Yeh kya hua...?
A flabby, hirsute Rajesh Khanna lumbers into the bed with this scantily clad X-rated heroine Laila Khan. After a repulsive cawing and pawing he suffers an asthma attack. As he reaches out convulsively for his medicinal pump, the wife dashes down the stairs into the arms of the young driver downstairs. This scene is repeated thrice over before, Khanna’s younger sister arrives on the scene with her “live-in” boyfriend. The sister feeds the family parrot in the middle of the night as her bhabhi returns from the driver’s quarters in a diaphanous nightie!! Some family they are. The young wife plots her husband’s murder along with her lover for his property. But the whole plan boomerangs as crime investigators Sudesh Berry and Tinu Anand solve the “case”. Silver vests, plastic flowers and caged-parrot make for some of the tackiest props ever seen on screen. The plot is moth-eaten and the treatment is gross.
Technical Expertise
To watch yesteryear superstar at the nadir of his career prompts you to ask, ‘Yeh kya hua, kab hua, kaise hua’
It’s heart-breaking to watch his downfall. With brassy setting, sassy star cast and a director who’s kinky beyond redemption, the film wins this year’s most gross production award. A huge letdown and a totally disappointing enterprise.
