London: A German artist plans to smoke the ashes of 'Nirvana' singer Kurt Cobain in a cannabis joint.

Refusing to reveal how she came to obtain the rock star's ashes which was reported stolen, the artist Barmy Natascha Stellmach says she planned to smoke the ashes to release him "into the ether from the media circus," the 'News of the World' reported.

Cobain's ashes were stolen from his widow Courtney Love's Los Angeles home this year.

Love had claimed that she had kept the ashes in a pink teddy-bear-shaped bag along with a lock of his hair.

Kurt committed suicide in 1994 while he was high on heroin. Some of his ashes were scattered in a Buddhist temple in New York, others were scattered in the Wishkah River near his home in Washington State, and the rest remained with Courtney before being stolen.

Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic had mesmerised the world of music with hits like 'In Bloom' and 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.

Nirvana has sold more than 62 million albums worldwide with its classic 'Nevermind' selling a record of more than ten million copies alone. It is still regarded one of the greatest albums.
