Friday, July 18:: A film with Keanu Reeves, her own production company and an international yoga DVD—Shilpa Shetty’s doing it all

From Baazigar to Life... in a Metro, how has your career shaped up so far?
I really have no idea how I lasted for so long considering I had a string of bad films. But the audience then was very forgiving. The feeling of being accepted and being successful in the industry for over a decade makes me very happy.

What difference has the Big Brother win made in your personal and professional lives?
It’s been like a new life. Last year, my brand image extended in the international front not just as an actor but as a person too. I have been offered many shows, but I have no intention of shifting my base to the United Kingdom. I might have bought a house there but my roots will always be in Mumbai as I love this city. In the UK, I need to go for auditions as they need to see whether I fit the role. Although I feel it is quite fair to conduct auditions, back in India people in the industry already know me well enough.

t made you think of launching a production house, S2 Global Productions?
I wanted to make films that I would like to watch. I had a script in mind and I thought of starting a production house. Manish Jha (director of our untitled movie) and I reworked the script. What we thought to be a simple one has turned out to be a huge multi-starrer. I will have the lead role. We plan to roll it anytime between December and January.

Metro was your last Hindi movie.
Last year, Bollywood took a backseat. I was busy with Big Brother and promoting my yoga DVD which a few fitness professionals had asked me to produce. But this year, I have too more work in my kitty. I will be seen in The Man with Sunny Deol, an item number in Dostana and in my production house projects.

How was it working with Sunny Deol?
For the first time, I’m in a movie where the lead actor is also the director. It seems a bit strange but Deol is a fabulous director. I loved Dillagi and so agreed to be a part of his movie. I am playing a role of an actor and hence it is very close to me. I am just being myself for the first time.

There’s a buzz that you will be playing Sita in Uru Patel’s international flick Hanuman alongside Keanu Reeves.
Yes, I am a part of that project but it’s too early to comment.

Raj Kundra and you have made your relationship public. Any plans of getting married soon?
As of now, I’m very busy with my work and there is no talk about marriage yet.
