Premotsava
Last schedule in Mysore

The unit of the Vishnuvardhan, Devayani and Roja starrer, Premotsava, completed a 23 day shoot in Ooty before moving to Mysore. Some of the scenes picturised were: the hero keeps the urn of his wife in his house and offers flowers to it, and later mingles with school children in an effort to drown his sorrows. Also canned by Dinesh Babu, the film’s director and cameraman, was the hero’s first meeting with Roja and a subsequent altercation between the two. Three songs were also picturised at Ooty. Stephen is the music director.

Tara, Sumitra, Aravind, Shankar Ashwath, Vijayasarathi, Archana, Kashi and Ramakrishna are also in the cast. The final schedule of the shooting began on August 10.

Saddam Hussain
Ready for release

The dialogue recording for the controversial Saddam Hussain starring Jaggesh was completed at Sanketh Recording Studio. VM Productions’ maiden venture, it is directed by Kumar of Mari Kannu Hori Myage fame, and is slated for release in the first week of September. It has story, screenplay and dialogue by Ram Prakash Trishuli, cinematography by Sundarnath Suvarna, action by KD Venkatesh, editing by Shashikumar, art by Sundar and choreography by Prasad.

Savitha (Sony alias Laxmi from Malayalam films) plays the lead opposite Jaggesh. Ambika, Ramanna, Shanker Ashwath, Tennis Krishna, Kote Prabhakar, Prakash, Kanakapura Ramakrishna, Shanthamma, Koratagere Venu and Tharakesh Patel are also in the cast.

Devara Maga
Ambarish, Shiv Rajkumar teamed

After a great deal of search for a suitable title, director D Rajendra Babu has finally plumped for Devara Maga. Babu says the title is apt because hero Shiv Rajkumar is under the impression that Ambarish is his father and Radhika his mother. He learns to his shock that they are not his parents. He becomes a servant in their house and till the end, he never knows who his real parents are. He calls himself the son of God (Devara Maga). Mounting the sets Shiv Rajkumar’s birthday, the film has already completed a song picturisation at Melkote. The songs are now being recorded by Hamsalekha. The film has story by journalist, Mysore Harish, screenplay by the director himself and dialogue by Richard Louis. Veteran sound recordist Armugam’s sons Suresh and Jagadish are the producers. PKH Das is the cameraman and Sharbani Mukerjee plays the lead role opposite Shiv Rajkumar.

Sneha
Ready to hit the screen

Chintamani Cine Arts’ much-awaited film in Kannada, Sneha, (the remake of the Telugu hit, Snehitulu) ia all set for release. Sneha has old friends, Lahari Audio and Ravichandran coming together again. At the audio release of the film, Ravichandran said, “It is Lahari who first showed there is money in the audio market in South India. They offered me a huge price for my Premaloka ten years ago and have now set another trend, fixing the price per cassette at Rs 20.”

The film has just completed the rerecording at Prasad Audio and is all set for release. VS Reddy of Gadibidi Ganda, Mangalyam Thanthunanena and Naanu Nanna Hendthiru fame is the director and Seetharam the cinematographer. K Nanjunda has penned the dialogue and Arun is the art director. Karan, Kashi, Srinivasamurthy, Doddanna, Dalapathi Dinesh, Rambo Rakhi, Mandya Ramesh and Chitra Shenoy are in the cast.

Uttar Druvadind Dakshina Druvaku
Unit returns from Rajasthan

The unit of Uttar Druvadind Dakshina Druvaku are back from a month-long shoot at Rajasthan. Yogeshwar, the city based rich land developer plays the stellar role for the first time and with him is Divya Patil, a Mumbai based girl.

The unit shot at Rajasthan Palace for ten days. Nearly 1000 local artistes have been utilised for the shoots. Back now in Bangalore, the unit is ready for the second schedule. Also in the cast are Lokesh, Loknath, Shobhraj, Harish Rai, Tennis Krishna, Pavitra Lokesh and Sadashiva Salian.
