We have witnessed the brother-siste
r singing duo on the pop scene like Nazia-Zoheb Hassan, and Shaan-Sagarika. Now we get to see two singing sisters Preety-Pinky make a splash on the Hindi-pop scene with their album Jhoome Jahaan released by Milestone.

This album is meant to popularise Gujarati and folk influences in Indi-pop, which until now was considered to be “alternative” music. Preety-Pinky, with their forceful singing succeed in bringing the richness of traditional sounds into the mainstream of Hindi-pop music. The album has a collection of pulsating tracks which appeal to your senses and leave you tapping your feet.

Jhoome Jahaan was conceived by Pinky, the younger of the two sisters, who loves dancing. Pinky, whose only aim is to scale heights as an acclaimed playback singer someday, is the soul behind the compositions. Preety, the older of the two, is an Aquarian in every sense of the word. She possesses a unique talent - she can sing in as many as twelve different voices! Together, the two sisters have worked hard on the album to create some soul-stirring music. The video track Pi Pi Papiha stands out as the best.

Jhoome Jahan is not the first album of Preety-Pinky. The duo have to their credit five successful albums, three of which are garba albums, and two cover versions. According to Preety-Pinky, Jhoome Jahan is an extension of their personality. “It is all about what we are and what we are capable of doing,” say the singing sisters.

Devout yet broad-minded, the duo’s songs are about the ultimate oneness of the human spirit, and how through music, which is a universal language, this oneness comes across. Having performed all over the world with almost a 120 shows to their credit, Preety-Pinky have the distinction of being second Indians to have performed live on the Kenya Network. The sisters can sing not just in Gujarati and Hindi, but also in Sindhi, Bhojpuri, Malayalam, Marathi and English!

The talented duo have brought Gujarat into the limelight in a big way, and have received acclaim worldwide for their different style, and choice of music, right from South Africa to the US, to Canada to London, and of course, their homeland.
