Paloma J’s second MV is for the classes

After a ride in a speedboat in the video of the song Garmi ma garmi laage, sardi ma sardi, singer Paloma J has become a trifle ambitious in her second video, for the album Paloma released by Zee Music. In her new video for the song Music is for fun, for me and you and everyone, she explores new vistas, i.e. travels nationally and internationally, dressed in vibrant ethnic stuff. “My first video, which was meant to introduce me, was simple. But my second video is targetted at the class audience and is lavish,” says Paloma J, “Also, the song is such that it demands a quality video. Music is for fun, which is my baby, in that I have written and done the arrangement of the composition, is a different number. It has pure ragas fused into jazz and dance instruments.”

Paloma J’s new video, which includes some Russian dance steps, was entirely her concept, she says. “What spurred me to go in for a second video was the good response to my album, and specially the song Garmi mein garmi laage. My first video wasn’t all that big, yet it gave me visibility. So I decided that I’d go all out for my second one,” the singer explains. Santosh Shetty and Nita Kamat are the choreographers for her new video.

Shot internationally in dazzling Dubai locales, and in those Indian regions which showcase our rich cultural heritage, the second music video (MV) comes six months after the first one in April. One of the highlights of the video according to Paloma J are the striking, and very Indian costumes designed by leading costume designer Neeta Lulla. “When I went to Neeta and made her listen to my song, she herself volunteered to do all the costumes. She told me that my song inspired her to take on the job, and that had it been for any other video, she would have thought twice before designing it. That made me feel good,” says Paloma J.

The singer is confident that her new MV will definitely boost her career, and help in preparing ground for her next album, on which she has started work. Some stage shows are also in the offing. And Paloma J is among those singers who believes in becoming net-savvy for wider popularity. She’s among the few pop artists who’ve got their own website. This singer surely is on a fast track.
