THE MOST ABLE KEN!

Ken GhoseThe five videos will be aired, one after the other, but Ken stresses that “each one is a story in itself and can be viewed exclusively.” And if you thought the videos would be set in a period era you have another thing coming. Ken, in his typical style, has set them in a modern ambience “for wider acceptance”. “Making a video for a ghazal album doesn’t mean that I have to use the set-up of mehfils. Hey! even today’s generation listen to ghazals!” he opines.

But what Ken seemed more excited about was the praise he was being showered with for making Asha Bhosle look beautiful in the videos. And though Ken had earlier done the video for O mere sona re with her, the singing legend herself felt she has never looked as beautiful as she does in these videos. Complimenting him, Bhosle said, “Ken has made me look so beautiful that I might soon start getting film offers.” What more ken you ask for?

MORE ON KEN....
Another video of Ken which is already making waves on the small screen is Biddu’s Farebi. Though the story and the concept is great, one can feel the hangover of Biddu’s earlier album Made In India. Both the videos are set in an era when rajkumars and rajkumaris dominated the scene. (Remember Alisha as a princess searching for her Prince Charming to come along in Made In India). Maybe it was Biddu’s idea which Ken agreed on, after all isn’t the audio too similar to MII? The similarity aside, this one is lavishly shot on exotic locales in Rajasthan — magnificent havelis, imposing forts, mesmerising desert, the works. Farebi is the story of two princes, who are great friends. The friendship turns to bitter animosity over a girl. And do the characters look convincing! Gurpreet Singh and Waqar Shaikh as friend-turned-foes princes suit the bill perfectly, while Poornima Patwardhan, the lady of contention, looks every inch like a princess, coming as she does from an aristocratic family. Now that is what you would call a double, sorry, triple bill.
