Magnasound releases Telugu pop album

Magnasound has decided to promote Telugu Pop Albums for which it has already signed a few talented youngsters. Teen-sensation of Telugu filmdom Pavan Kalyan released the album Mr Devi at Chiran Fort Club recently. The album is the brainchild of 21-year-old Devisriprasad who has composed music and penned lyrics besides singing and performing in the video. After the release function, Devisriprasad performed two catchy numbers from his album and screened one number for the selected gathering.

Mr Devi is the second pop album to be released in Telugu. The first one failed to make an impact. Leading Telugu audio companies never ventured into this segment since they had to spend heavily on promotion while they were unsure of the returns.

Since both the satellite channels ETV and Gemini TV don’t have slots for pop songs it has become very difficult for audio companies to promote their albums. Menon, Regional Manager of Magnasound, talking to Screen said, “We have approached both the channels and ETV has agreed to telecast it in their Coca Cola Hungama programme and we would be releasing trailers on Gemini TV. Instead of slashing the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) we have chalked out a good publicity campaign and are confident of attracting the listeners. We had some success in the Tamil pop scene and now are hoping to create a market even in Telugu by releasing few more albums.” Music composer Devisriprasad said, “I am grateful to Magnasound for promoting me and Pavan Kalyan for gracing the occasion. My idol is maestro Illayaraja and I am confident that people will like my album.”
