Shabana play from
May 25
Having shaved her head to play a widow in Deepa Mehtas Water, Shabana
Azmi is now growing back her hair, to be able to play the lead role in
the English play, The Waiting Room. The play premieres in London on May
25.
Jungle music unleashed
The music of Ram Gopal Vermas Jungle was released by Universal,
the recording company, on May 2. The film will be released by the end
of June.
Raza Murad is CINTAA chief
The executive committee of Cine and TV Artistes Association in its meeting
on April 24, elected Raza Murad as its president and Dharmesh Tiwari as
general secretary.
Gangadharan to attend FIAFP meet
PV Gangadharan, president of the Film Federation of India, accompanied
by Supran Sen, secretary of the FFI, will attend the special meeting of
the Federation of International Associations of Film Producers at Cannes
on May 12. Many important issues are to be discussed at the meeting of
the world body of film producers, including audio visual performers rights.
On their way back, they will visit Hungary on a special invitation by
the Hungarian film industry.
National awards entries by May 31
The last date for submitting films for National Film Awards is May 31.
The Film Federation of India will recommend 10 films in the category of
best film providing popular and wholesome entertainment. Entry forms can
be had from the office of the FFI.
Workshops on Copyright with WIPO
The Film Federation of India in association with the Federation
of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will conduct workshops
on copyright matters in regional centres like Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad,
Chennai and Calcutta to enlighten the producers on matters of copyright
and piracy.
Dhirendra Bohra dead
Producer-director Dhirendra Bohra, youngest son of Shree Ram Bohra, died
of cancer on April 28. He was 41 years old and is survived by his wife
and mother. Known in industry circles as Ganapati, Bohra directed two
Hindi films, Kafan and Mard. He has also produced eight Gujarati films.
