
The
pleasure one gets from discovering a new talent is what makes film reviewing
rewarding. Rituparno Ghosh is not really a new talent. His first feature
film (he had earlier made Hirer Angti for the NCYP) was Unishe April,
and it won the Swarn Kamal for Best Film. Not having seen his Bergmanesque
exploration of a troubled mother-daughter relationship, one looked forward
to Dahan to find out if the film lived up to the makers massive
reputation.
