12 MINUTE SONG
IN RAJ KANWAR'S FILM

Now that the hullabaloo about having recorded a 12-minute song is over, producer-director Raj Kanwar has got down to picturising the song on his lead stars Mahima Chaudhary, Chandrachur Singh and a host of dancers. Choreographer B.H. Tharun Kumar is directing the dance number. “For the song, my art director has created a special set with glass effects at Filmalaya Studios, Mumbai. We had already visualised the song before it was recorded. But after hearing it, we are so happy at the way it has shaped up that we’ve decided to execute certain changes. But I don’t want to speak more about it at this stage,” smiles Kanwar.

Kanwar has worked out a musical climax for his latest film which is yet to be titled. And no, he doesn’t think that the audience will get bored of the marathon song because it has a very desi, traditional feel to it. In fact, for the recording of the song, he had specially flown down seven talented tabla-players from Lucknow. The director insists that the song is a musical treat. “It’s a mujra kind of a song, very romantic and situational,” says he.

The director reveals that he had been wanting to have a musical climax in one of his films for quite sometime, but never got an opportunity to do so. If the song written by Sameer, composed by Rajesh Roshan and rendered by Anuradha Paudwal and Jaspinder Narula is as good as Kanwar promises, the song and the film are sure to set the box-office registers jingling. Something which Kanwar surely needs after the debacle of Itihaas. After all, he can do without history repeating itself!
