ROUTINE
GOOD VS EVIL TALE
WHEN
corrupt politicians make life miserable for the common man, the army should
intervene to set things right. Or so this movie, Hiten Films Military
Raaj, seems to advocate.
Major Anand
(Mithun Chakraborty) is an honest military officer with an enviable track
record. However, he has a direct altercation with Prakash (Vishwajeet Pradhan),
the son of a corrupt politician, Yeshwant Roy (Prem Chopra). Thanks to his
fathers political clout, Prakash gets Anand transferred to the training
centre, the Indian Military Academy. But Major Anand is unperturbed and vows
to train each cadet in such a way that they would never flinch from taking
on the wicked politicians and annihilating them. Among his cadets at the
IMA are Aditya Pancholi, Siddharth Dhawan, Irfan and Gautam, with whose help
he fights the politicians and emerges a winner. At long last.
From the
start, the film fails to hold the interest of the audience. The script could
have been more taut. On the music front, only one song, Balle balle, is
hummable.
Performance-wise,
Mithun Chakraborty makes an effort to impress. Sadly, he has no heroine to
keep him company in the film, although there is a glimpse or two of
Jayapradas framed photograph on his table. But who she is we are not
told. A dead wife, perhaps, or a long-lost love?
Aditya Pancholi
appears wasted as the IMA cadet. Pratibha Sinha too, has little to do. Siddharth
Dhawan, Irfan and Gautam hardly leave an impact. Baddies, Prem Chopra and
Vishwajeet Pradhan have no great scope to perform. |
