to slumbering trade
There is a new euphoria in the film market. After Kaho Naa... Pyar Hai,
there has been no super hit film, and the film industry has been hoping
against hope for a hit. First, it came in the form of Tips Kya Kehna
last month. It has done very good business everywhere.
Now comes Venuss Josh, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Chandrachur
Singh, Priya Gill and Sharad Kapoor. It showed 100 per cent collections
for four days everywhere. The distributors, at last, have something to
rave about, and they are thrilled to bits by the collections. Even Joru
Ka Ghulam which opened last Friday, showed 100 per cent collections in
Mumbai and other places.

The film has had 100 per cent collections in the first week in Mumbai
which is the first time in recent times. According to Ganesh Jain, its
Delhi collection was 95, 94 per cent in Calcutta, 95 per cent in Pune
and 94 per cent in Hyderabad. According to figures supplied by VIP Enterprises,
which distributes the film in Mumbai circuit, the first week collections
came to Rs 69,73,725.85 which is the full capacity of 15 cinemas in Mumbai
city and suburbs alone. Even on the 8th day, the film registered 100 per
cent in Mumbai.

The first week collections of the film came to 43 per cent in Mumbai.
Kya Kehna
The fourth week collections in Mumbai came to 69 per cent. It did 94 per
cent in Solapur, 60 per cent in Lucknow, 60 per cent in Nagpur and 52
per cent in Pune.
Hum To Mohabbat Karega
The film had suffered badly in the second week itself with 42 per cent
collections in Mumbai and still worse at 21 per cent in Delhi.
Jung and Kaho Na... Pyar Hai showed low collections in Mumbai and
elsewhere, too.
This
Week:
Opening this Friday is Pranlal Mehtas Tarkieb, starring Nana Patekar
and Tabu. After a long time a murder mystery is coming on the screen with
a big star cast. The film is directed by Esmayeel Shroff.
Also opening this week are Yeh Hai Prem Jan Jaal and Raat Ka Shaitan.
