hopes to break even in a year
Indiamoviebiz.com is a B-2-B site that means business. It gets a membership
fee of Rs 5000 per person (has already got 52 users before launch) and
plans to have a host of transaction related to selling movie rights, satellite
rights, DVD rights, dubbing rights, Internet rights, audio rights etc
as well as media selling, and individual transactions like technicians
willing to buy/sell equipment.
The site has also got the rights for 12 movies to increase to 100 after
the festive season. The site has been promoted by Sredhar Pillai a former
journalist covering the film industry for the past 18 years, P S Kannan
former marketing manager of Columbia Pictures, K N Menon former manager
of Malayalam superstar Mohanlals distribution and production concern
and Sankarnarayan former GM of National Film Development Corporation.
This team expertise has led to Blueshift Internet Ventures (a Chennai-based
incubator company) to collaborate in the venture to the tune of 16 per
cent. Blueshift also helps in developing and maintaining site and helping
out with the business plans. The investment that has gone into the site
is around Rs 65 lakh, but Pillai is confident of generating profits from
the second year. In the current year the company hopes to generate a revenue
of Rs 3 crore executing at least a 100 deals having a value of Rs 3 lakh
upwards. Apart from the trade content (box office hits as on date among
others) and facilities like talent search the site gives a free home page
to users. Pillai said that this was the first such site aimed at community
building.
