TASK
FORCE SET-UP TO
FORMULATE AIMS FOR FILM COUNCIL
Meanwhile,
Santosh Singh Jain, president of the Film Federation of India, said that
a meeting of the film producers was called, as per Sushma Swarajs advice,
to consider whether the green channel and red channel method applied for
customs clearances was acceptable to film producers.
In
principle, Mumbais producers agree to the ministers suggestion,
but we are yet to meet producers from other centres to ascertain their views.
Only if there is a consensus will we ask the minister to spell out the details
of the green and red signals. In any case, the decision has to be taken by
the Film Federation of India, he pointed out.
The meeting,
chaired by Jain, was attended by Yash Chopra, Surinder Kapoor, Gaffarbhai
Nadiadwala, SK Kapur, KD Shorey, Amit Khanna, Satish Kulkarni, TC Dewan,
Surjit Aujla, and Vinod Gantra of FICCI. Sultan Ahmed emphasised that in
future all members of the censor board should be drawn from the film industry
and only the regional officer should be a Government appointee. Even the
power to constitute examining committees or revising committees should rest
with the film industry. |
