Ekta whips up another soap
After
having tasted success with her serials Hum Paanch and Maano
Ya Na Maano, Ekta Kapoor earned herself a name in the field of daily soaps
and serious family dramas with serials like Koshish, Kudumbum(in a south-Indian
language), Ghar Ek Mandir and Kanyadaan. Now she is coming up with yet
another daily soap, Kyon Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which is again a
family drama. Revolving around the female characters, this soap promises
some lighter moments unlike the other serious ones. Three generations
of one family have been portrayed in the serial. As the name goes, its
about the saas-bahu relationship.
Govardhan Virani and his wife Amba are the eldest in the family, their
sons and their wives constitute the second generation. Govardhans
grandson Mihir marries Tulsi the daughter of their family poojari, much
against his familys wishes. The way Mihirs mother and aunts
ill-treat Tulsi and how she retaliates back to it and makes them realise
that even thay are daughters-in-law, makes the main story.
Ashish Patil, who has the credit of completing a good many soaps after
starting with them mid-way, and also having a done a few suspense thrillers
is the director. The cast comprises quite a few artistes from the Gujarati
theatre. Even the story is based in a Gujarat background exhibiting the
colours of the culture.I feel in our country there are various cultures
which are rich and beautiful and hence I decided to portray one of those
through this soap. You
can find all sorts of vibrant colours in this serial, says Ekta
Kapoor. On being asked about her immense involvement with daily soaps,
she says, Daily soaps are something which most house-wives in India
love to watch. I see to it that the characters are not imaginary, but
a lot more real so that people could relate these with their day-to-day
lives.
Kyon Ki.... is scheduled to start sometime in July. The time slot of 10.00
to 10.30 on star Plus, which is right after Kaun Banega Karorepati has
been decided upon.
