It was a feast for the senses. The night when all roads
seemed to lead to Mumbais Shahaji Raje Sports Complex,
Andheri. Braving the doomsday prophets and the air of threats,
in the wake of the recent bid on filmmaker Rakesh Roshans
life, the stars descended to witness the Spectacle Extraordinaire,
the Sixth SCREEN Videocon Awards nite on January 23. It was
also a night of some surprises. Of proud, yet humble exultation
for the winners, and nail-biting agony for others. For those
involved with the nitty-gritties of organising and presenting
the grand event, it was a labour of love. The celebration of
a century of cinema and a year of cinematic excellence. The
culmination of months of painstaking, even nerve-wracking coordination...
SCREEN proudly presents keepsakes from the grand
spectacle...

Pukar
A clarion
call to challenge, to capture and crush the
enemy
He is like a one man army who has fought many wars,
won most, lost some but has never given up, never surrendered, never let
the enemy get the better of him. He has never let any force crush his amazing
ambition. Any other man in his place would have given up in the face of some
of the most dangerous obstacles and odds he has faced but this young man
has made his ambition an adventure and his weapon to fight fear.
The changing notes
of Hey! Ram
Kamal Haasans ambitious period piece Hey!
Ram has been in the news ever since its inception. The film was talked about
for its controversial theme, for its multi-star-cast, and for its music.
Kamal decided on giving a break to violin virtuoso L. Subramaniam as a composer
with this film. But its his old favourite Illayaraja who has ended
up composing a brilliant score for Hey! Ram. |
