Film production on upswing
764 censored, 203 imported

The production of feature films which was on the downward trend since 1991, and had touched rock-bottom with 693 in 1998, shows a marked rise with 764 films certified in 1999 by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), an increase of 71 features over 1998.
