Ultra Video releases In The Memory of Mohammed Rafi
On the 25th death annoversary of Mohammed Rafi, Ultra Video released a special box pack of 8 VCDs aptly titled In Memory Of Mohammed Rafi featuring his popular songs, Among the films of which songs feature here are Kohinoor, Aradhana, An Evening In Paris, Sargam, C.I.D., Amber, Ziddi and many more. The special pack is priced at Rs 499.
The Film music to release
Saregama will market the music of Nomad Films’ maiden venture The Film starring Mahima Chaudhary, Khaleed, Ananya Khare and others. Directed by Junaid Memon and co-produced by him along with Amitabh Bhattacharya, the film has music and lyrics by Samida Khaleed. Asha Bhosle, Suresh Wadkar, Roopkuamr Rathod, Sunidhi Chauhan, Lucky Ali and Smita Malhotra are the singers.
Sudhir Phadke’s Jeevangaane on Saregama
Saregama has released a 4-CD set,Jeevangaane, of the late Marathi maestro and Swar-Gandharva Sudhir Phadke. The release function was held recently at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Sabhagriha in Mumbai. The album was released under the aegis of Surashree Pratisthan by the late singer-composer’s wife Smt. Lalita Phadke, also a singer herself, and comprises 72 of the cream of his film songs,bhavgeet, yugalgeet and bhaktigeet.
Sudhir Phadke’s son, composer-singer Shridhar Phadke, Shivshahir Babasaheb Purandare and Bharat Athvankar from Saregama were present on the occasion. The launch was followed by a programme of the maestro’s songs.
Anti-piracy Raid by Shemaroo
In a raid carried out at Movie Town, an outlet in the suburb of Mumbai on August 13,the anti-piracy team of Shemaroo Video Pvt. Ltd. seized 812 pirated DVDs and VCDs costing over Rs 2,50,000. An FIR has been filed against Mr Mansoor Ali, the proprietor, who is currently absconding.
The raid happened after initial surveys and warnings which the owner ceased to heed, and was conducted with the help from Senior Inspector R.R. Joshi and other officers from the Social Service branch. Pirated DVDs of recent releases like Paheli, Sarkar, Dus, Yahaan, Yakeen and Sehar were found. Other pirated copies of English films were also seized in this raid.
Shemaroo’s anti-piracy team carries out various vigilance activities gathering information and warning the pirates. The team also gives information about dealing in legitimate products and educates on the consequences of dealing in pirated video products. Only when they cease to heed to all the warnings does Shemaroo raid the outlet and takes action against the pirates.
