Remix Bappi style

Remix, which already has a foot-tapping title track sung by Aasma and composed by Pritam (of Dhoom fame), is all set to incorporate another racy number composed by Bappi Lahiri. Now, one just cannot think of Bappi without his trademark disco. So, there will be a disco track in the X generation serial. Tia, Anvesha, Yuvi and Ranvir, the four main characters, hail from different backgrounds and seem to follow their own path towards fulfilling their ambitions. But circumstances force them to come together and through a series of dramatic twists and turns, the four have finally formed a music group Remix.

Bollywood Baazigar
A new film-related show Bollywood Baazigar has begun on Zee News. The show unveils the persona and the pain taken by great masters of Bollywood to achieve what they are today. The show encompasses the journey of a legend right from the beginning. It gathers all the information about the personality that a common viewer will love to see and remember. A one-hour show, it is divided in six segments of six minutes duration each. The thrust of the show is to see the life of the personality from other people’s point of view and chart his career’s path. It involves talking with early day’s mentors to gather the cues that lead the personality to enter the profession, the turning point, the big leap, the friends, the foes, the controversies and the celebrations.

Four is not enough
Zee has rescheduled its afternoon programming format. Starting June 13, all dailies between 1.30 pm to 9 pm will be aired from Monday to Friday instead of Monday to Thursday. Abhijeet Saxena, Business Head, Zee TV said, “The decision to extend the serials across a five-day week was taken based on popular viewer feedback.” Besides the daily afternoon movies, some of the serials that will fall under this initiative at prime time are the popular Sinndoor Tere Naam Ka, Tumhari Disha and the recently launched, Saarkkar - Rishton Ki Ankahi Kahani. The afternoon band will have Paalkhi, Piya Ka Ghar and Reth. Paalkhi, the latest offering to be aired at 1.30 pm is a story of young love and its turmoils. A Cinevista Productions’ offering, Paalkhi is a story set against a Gujarati family backdrop with three principle characters Palak (Karishma Tanna), Pranjal (Abhay Vakil) and Daksh. Palak, the only child of separated parents comes to India from London to spend time with her grandmother and finish her college studies. She takes admission in the reputed Princeton College in Mumbai and it is here that she meets Pranjal and they fall in love. Shortly thereafter, their families give their consent to the relationship as well. Palak and Pranjal’s joy, however, is shortlived because they realise that Pranjal’s twin brother Daksh too has developed an obsession for Palak. Daksh, the black sheep in the Jagirdaar family, does everything in his power to win over Palak’s affection but to no avail. What does the future hold for Palak? Will she ever be able to forget her first love? And where does this take Pranjal? Watch the characters being enveloped in the chaos of love, life and relationships....

Gurdeep’s Babli act
The Gurdeep Kohli of Sinndoor - Tere Naam Ka will play Babli. As part of story, Vedika being mentally ill, has been admitted to mental asylum. One night during a function, the Raizada family (Vedika’s in-laws) witness Vedika’s lookalike - Lali, a dancer. The family is interested in meeting the girl to know more about her as she resembles their bahu. This girl, in a completely new look, looks like Babli in Bunty Aur Babli. With song and dance becoming an important part of serials these days, you will find a Rajasthani Ghoomer dance in the June 16 episode. The Rajasthani Ghoomer dancers were called for this purpose. The story takes an important turn on June 23, where they will celebrate Kali Puja. In this episode, all the women will be smeared with sinndoor from head to toe...

contest winners to star in the series
Pepsodent Shaktiman contest winners were announced last week. In all, they have selected 31 children. The contest, launched nationally to promote good dental hygiene amongst children was open to children from the ages of six to 15. 31 lucky children got the opportunity to star in an episode of Shaktiman with their hero Mukesh Khanna who portrays the character. Children wishing to participate in the Pepsodent-Shaktiman contest had to answer three simple questions at the end of every episode with one winner being chosen per episode. The contest saw close to 25000 entries from children across the country. The excited winners and their guardians were brought to Mumbai where they got the opportunity to shoot with Shaktiman- for a specially scripted episode.

CSI: NY First premieres on AXN
AXN India is premiering the latest and one of the most anticipated series – CSI: NY. Inspired by the #1 drama series, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and backed by one of Hollywood’s hottest producers, Jerry Bruckheimer, CSI: NY will offer viewers a chance to see New York in a different light through the eyes of a new team of investigators. The new series debuts in India on June 15 at 10.00pm. Gary Sinise, an Academy Award nominee for Best Actor in a Supporting Role as Lieutenant Dan in Forrest Gump and a Golden Globe Award winner for his role in Truman, leads in the new series which is a lot more personal, with more insight into the characters and their personal lives. He plays Detective Mack “Mac” Taylor, an ex-Marine who lost his wife in the 9/11 disaster. Starring opposite him as his partner is Melina Kanakaredes, who is best known for her portrayal as Dr Sydney Hansen in the critically acclaimed television series Providence. She plays Detective Stella Bonasera, who is a workaholic and shares the same passion for her job. Viewers can continue to expect high-tech computer sleuthing, microscoping close-ups of DNA strands and the human anatomy, and the use of advanced forensic techniques in the show.

Marry go round
An important twist is happening in this week’s Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. Sameer gets to know that he had married Shruti and not Gayatri. Gayatri who is upset about how things are between Sameer and her decides to leave him. But before she can tell Sameer about her decision, he tells her that she is not his wife and so she is free to leave him. Shruti, meanwhile, assures Sameer that whatever she is doing for him is out of pure friendship. Bhushan suggests that Sameer starts his new project that got delayed because of Sasha. Sameer agrees and meets a lot of investors but no one agrees to invest in his project. Shruti sees him upset about arranging money for his project and asks Parvati to talk to Om about financing Sameer. Shruti helps Sameer in his business. Meanwhile, Sameer and Bhushan come to Agarwal House to ask for Shruti’s hand in marriage. To everyone’s surprise, she refuses to marry Sameer. Parvati and Om try to make Shruti understand that she should accept the proposal as Gayatri does not want to live with Sameer. Finally she agrees. Kamal finds out about a cheque of a huge amount signed by Om and confronts him. In the Gill family, Gill is waiting anxiously for the election results. As soon as the results come out, Bhushan announces Sameer and Shruti’s wedding.At last!

Watch out for Games Bond
STAR One is all set to launch the most unique and clutter-breaking show Games Bond from June 17 at 8.30 pm. Games Bond is an interesting format set in a virtually real ambience of a war-field as teams of five gaming champs who take on each other in a video gaming encounter. One team plays the cops and the other team plays the terrorists as they try and gun down each other in an adventurous battle. Hosted by Rahul Dev, the show combines the drama and action from the participants intercut with full-screen video game footage. The team that emerges as the victor at the end of the series is crowned India’s Games Bond.

Replacements and reunion
Vishal Singh has replaced Abbas Khan as Siddharth in Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani. According to director Ajai Sinha, they mutually decided to part ways because Abbas wanted to concentrate on his film career. Winner of Zee’s Cinestar Ki Khoj, Abbas was more interested in trying his luck in films, says Ajai. Once he was out, Ajai wanted to replace him with a known face and since Vishal’s serial Kabhi Ha Kabhi Na had ended, he roped him in. The following episodes of Astitva will see a reunion between Simran, Abhi and their daughter Sia...

Anuj launches Maverick
Anuj Saxena has launched his production company called Maverick which will produce TV software and commercials. Many TV and films stars including model Maushmi Udeshi, (Anuj’s costar in Lips) Rucha Gujarati, Varun Badola, Rajeshwari Sachdeva and Narayani Shastri attended the launch party.
