Get Gorgeous - 2 launched

Posted online: Friday, May 13, 2005 at 0000 hours IST

Last year Channel [v] launched the LG CDMA [v] Get Gorgeous hunt to find the country’s next supermodels. Along with Elite Model Management, Channel [v] travelled across the country looking for that face that would sell beauty products. They received 6,000 entries of which four were chosen who in turn got a lifetime chance to interact with the best from the fashion industry. Their entry into the modelling world was nothing less than spectacular - walking the ramp for designer Suneet Verma at the Rome Fashion Week.

Since then the four winners - Archana Vijaya, Tanvi Singh, Natasha Suri and Aarohi Mishra have walked the ramp for some of the leading designers like Rohit Bal, Ritu Kumar, Tarun Tahiliani, Manish Malhotra, Shantanu & Nikhil and have done a host international campaigns.

This year, Channel [v] is back with the second season of [v] Get Gorgeous. The show was launched on April 23. One of the winners of Get Gorgeous last year, Archana Vijaya is now a Channel [v] VJ and is also the host of this year’s hunt. This year, they travelled to six cities in search of one gorgeous face. After having received over 5,000 entries the jury members comprising Milind Soman, Noyonika Chatterjee and Hemant Trevedi have shortlisted 15 girls who will be travelling to Sri Lanka for grooming and training by experts.

What are the jury members looking for in the LG CDMA [v] Get Gorgeous winner this year?
Hemant Trivedi: “Essentially, we are looking for a young lady, who enjoys what she is doing, and one who can present herself in all aspects of the fashion business. For e.g. If you are given a bag of potatoes and asked to make it look like a million bucks, and if you could do that, then you’re the one we are looking for.”

Noyonika Chatterjee: “Not only are we looking for someone who is tall, thin and beautiful, but what I am personally looking for is a girl who can project herself differently each time she walks down ramp. When we do shows, as models we are dealing with someone else’s ideas, someone else’s clothes, someone else’s music - so I feel if you are able to project something of yourself whether its your attitude, style or anything that really makes you stand apart from the rest, then you are the winner.”

Milind Soman: “A certain physical form, a certain beauty are aspects which everyone talks about, but what we are really looking for is a girl with that ‘spark’ which everybody takes notice of irrespective of where you are, your background, the environment or the culture. In short, when some one looks at you, they should just be floored.”

Archana Vijaya - Channel [V] VJ
Host of GG 2,
Winner of GG 1: “Get Gorgeous happened to me while I was still in college. It completely transformed me from what I was to what I wanted to be. As the host of LG CDMA [v] Get Gorgeous-2, this year, I’ve travelled extensively across the country in search of talent. This year, the participants are sure to knock your socks off. They’ve got the look, the oomph and the style and the show will definitely leave you wanting for more.”
