B*Witched adds spice to the music scene

The break-up of one of the most popular girl bands, Spice Girls, had made the international music scene ‘spiceless’ and saddened many a music lovers. But they need not brood any longer. A new all-girl band has hit the music scene and already cast a spell. So don’t be surprised to know that the band rightly calls themselves B*Witched.

So enchanting is the music created by this band that Sony Music UK’s Head of Epic was floored when he first heard the group’s C’est la vie and Rollercoaster (and this was even before the band was signed on by the record company). The record company head predicted that the band would become a huge hit and he was right when these two numbers entered the UK charts at number one position, something which was not achieved by any artist, from Beatles to the Spice Girls.

In other countries too B*Witched soon made their presence felt - they charted at the top in New Zealand; made a new entry at seven in Italy; were among the top 10 in Australia and Belgium; were among the top 20 in Sweden and Norway; were among the top 40 in Denmark and Netherelands; and at the top on many more charts in the US and Japan.

Four girls, stunners actually, comprise B*Witched - Edele and Keavy, who’re twins, Sinead and Lindsay - all of whom hail from Dublin. And how did they get christened B*Witched? Well, that’s an interesting story. It was their producer who was responsible for the band name because he kept telling them, “You’re very bewitching,” and the name stuck.

This girl-band has links with the popular boy-band Boyzone. Not of the romantic kind though. Twins Edele and Keavy have an older brother in Boyzone - Shane Lynch. The Irish charishma speaks for itself, doesn’t it?

There’s buzz that B*Witched might be coming to India. Do we see a smile on music buffs’ faces?
