TELE BUZZ

FarahFabulous Farah
Fiery Farah made a welcome comeback as the chirpy bahu in Aha and as the pativrata in Amar Prem. And then she just vamo-osed from the public eye. She

had us guessing until we ran into the lovely lady the other day at her sis, Tabu’s pad. She looked svelte-n-sexy and simply gorgeous sans the make-up. The reason for the radiant glow on her face toddled in after her. Her almost one-year-old moppet takes after her completely. Conscientious mama that she is, Farah has arranged for a maulavi sahab to read the religious scriptures to her son who hasn’t even begun speaking as yet! We didn’t bother asking the busy ammi whether she wants to get back to acting. Right now she is much too busy running behind her sonny boy.

Salman KhanSalman in a teleserial
Yes it's for real . And no, it’s not just a teensy-weensy guest appearance. The temperamental Khan will actually be seen in six episodes of a serial. He will be there as the popular star that he is. Salman agreed to storm the small-screen for the sake of buddy Nazim, who incidentally happens to be veteran comedian, Johnny Walker’s son. Lage Raho, the sitcom for which Nazim’s roped in Salman, will have Himani Shivpuri and Avtar Gill in the lead. Chhota bhai,

Nasir, Nazim assures us, will be there too, but his role will be incorporated a little later.

Gurpeet SinghWhat’s in a name?
Gurpreet Singh is the dashing guy who comes home to Deepti Bhatnagar in the Siyaram commercial. But when the hunk decided to get into acting, he adopted a screen name, Abhishek, ”I am a Sikh and I feared I wouldn’t be taken too seriously. So, I changed my name for a while. But I have reverted back to my original name, I have realised that it’s your talent that counts. Who gives a damn to which place you belong,” he elaborates. Gurpreet became popular after his extra-marital fling with Neena Gupta in Dard. He will now be playing Kanwaljit’s brother in Neena's new serial, Saans and in Aandhi Jazbaton Ki he’s the tycoon smitten by the lovely Bhagyashree.

MamikFamily matters
We bumped into this handsome actor with tornado curls and the dreamy look on the sets of Woh. Yes the actor under scrutiny is none other than Mamik. And guess what he had to tell us? Well, he just waxed eloquent on family matters — about his nine-year-old daughter with whom he loves to spend all his chhutti and his wife of 12 long years, Sandhya, who was also a model, and is now trying to get into TV. He tells us how very protective he is about her and he’ll allow her to act only with units he’s comfortable with. So much for the doting papa and the concerned hubby.

Cine Magic’s on Friday now
Cine buffs were in for a rude shock last Sunday morning to find Cine Magic replaced by the Bejan Daruwallh Show on Zee. Cine Magic has now been shifted to Zee Cinema, Friday evening at 6.45 . “The viewership is definitely going to be affected,” rues Pravin Karale, the director of the show,”But in the larger interests of the channel, it had to be done,” he adds sportingly. Since EL TV has been converted into India TV, a news channel, Zee has had to accommodate serials from

EL, and film-related programmes on Zee have had to shifted to Zee Cinema. The gist of the matter is that Friday now will be the day for celluloid capers.

Pop countdown on Sony
This is boom time for indi-pop and a sure indication is the growing number of countdowns that channels are coming up with. The latest Coca Cola Poppadum Show on Sony will feature the top 12 Indian pop albums every Monday, at 8 pm. What makes Poppadum Show crunchier than the rest is it’s zany hosts — the hip Aparna Tilak and the incorrigible mimic Ravi Iyer. Iyer pops up in a variety of colorful desi get-ups — whether it’s a goonda mawaali, a stinking rich Gujju broker, a Dubai returned Mallu or the funny poppadwala — and brings out the linguistic diversity most hilariously.

The Poppadam show has interesting segments like the Desi Poppad which will run through the regional pick and Videshi Poppad featuring Sony Music's International tracks. This pop scene sure sounds topping.

RageshwariMTV takes Rags to Nepal
It’s Raageshwari’s endearing VJing that gives MTV-Ek-DO-Teen a cutting edge over other similar similar countdown show s. In her attempt to keep her viewers happy, Rags often ends up repeating her Oye get-ups that of a spoilt kiddo, a teenaged sardar, a tapori et al. But viewers don’t seem to mind it at all. This time though Rags is not going to don any disguise, she will appear as her charming self. The only difference will be that she will be reporting from Nepal. Rags will take the audience on a trip to , the land of temples and stupas. She will also give them a taste of adventure sports like river rafting, trekking and scaling the mighty Himalayas. And guys, Rags will also visit the famous casinos. Catch the Nepali fun on Ek Do Teen on Mondays at 8.30 pm.
