marketing of feature films on DD
The ongoing tussle between NFDC and private marketing agencies is showing
no sign of abating. This undeclared war is over the marketing
rights of Hindi feature films which Doordarshan telecasts on Fridays and
Saturdays. While private marketing agencies like Multichannel, Creative Eye,
UTV and others are worried about the growing monopoly of NFDC in the feature
film marketing area, NFDC thinks otherwise. Private marketing agencies complain
that NFDC by virtue of being a government agency, is able to acquire the
marketing rights of about 75 per cent of the films on DD1. But NFDC argues
that it does not exploit its position at all.
