VAMSEE BERKELEY AWARDS

Dr Rajendra Prasad has won the Vamsee Berkeley Award for best actor for his performance in the Telugu film Navvulata. Vijaya Shanti has been adjudged best actress for her roles in Osey Ramulamma and Rowdi Durbar. Osey Ramulamma won the award for the best film while Ahwanam has been adjudged the film with the best story, Pellichesukundam the film with the best message and Annamayya the best family film.

Muthyala Subbaiah has won the award for the best director for his films Chiranjeevi Hitler, Gokulamlo Sita and Pelli Chesukundam. Jayanth has won the award for the best debutant director for Preminchukundam Ra. While Mallikarjun Rao has won the award for the best supporting actor (Pelli Pandiri), Shakuntala has won the award for the best supporting actress (Osey Ramulamma. SP Balasubramaniam and Suhasini have won the awards for the best performances in character roles, for Aaro Pranam and Egire Pavuramma respectively. Sudhakar and Kovai Sarala have won the awards for the best performances in comedy roles.
