Pallavi bows out, Shefali steps in on Antakshari

Pallavi Joshi is taking a bow and Shefali Chhaya is replacing her in the mega musical game-show Antakshari, telecast on Zee. Shefali, who had participated in a special episode of the popular song-based show, had approached director Gajendra Singh and evinced an interest in anchoring it.

“I love singing and Antakshari is such a grand musical show that I wanted to be a part of it,” enthused Shefali. She’s already started shooting for the episodes that are going to be telecast in the new Millennium.

Pallavi Joshi, who has anchored 160 episodes of the show, felt that Antakshari was coming in the way of her acting assignments, which is her main priority. “I wanted to leave it for a long time because I had nothing more to give the programme. After 150 episodes I told Gajendra Singh I wanted to quit. It was a mutual decision, “she reasons.

Claiming that it was wonderful anchoring Antakshari , Pallavi says she had taken it up just because she wanted to do something different. But no more anchoring for her. Pallavi, who’s taken up production of TV serials with her director husband Vivek Agnihotri is already producing X-Zone episodes for Zee.

Interestingly, Shefali was approached to play the role of the comatose girl in the serial Alpviram telecast on Sony before Pallavi . But Shefali turned it down, a decision which she greatly regrets today. Now, it remains to be seen whether she enjoys or regrets her decision to anchor Antakshari.
