Nimbus to launch
two channels
Nimbus Creative Corporation Pvt Ltd, one of the
countrys largest television content provider, plans two broadcast
channels and is
looking at extensive sports programming plans with its joint venture with
World Sport Group.
Nimbus Creative Corporation Pvt Ltd, currently engaged in television production
and media marketing is now venturing into broadcasting with the launch of
two new channels.
In June this year, Nimbus, plans to launch its first channel called Showbiz
TV. As the name suggests, the channel, intends to bring to TV audiences,
news and features concerning events and stars associated with cinema and
entertainment. This channel will also look at live chat shows and game shows
and other mass-appeal areas like cricket. According to the CEO of Nimbus,
Mr Harish Thawani, Through this channel I intend to fill the vacuum
for star gazers.
Nimbus also plans to launch a second channel in October this year, which
is likely to be targeted at an exclusively womens audience. Nimbus
is close to sealing an agreement with Sun TV for utilising the spare satellite
transponder capacity on Intelsat-703 after Sun turns digital shortly. The
deal involves Sun TV handling the up-linking and transmission chain from
Chennai, while negotiations are on with Sony Entertainment Television and
Modi Entertainment Network for the distribution of the two Nimbus channels.
Nimbus, which specialises in sports programming has also tied up with World
Sport Group, one of the largest sports programmers. The deal involves a 500:50
partnership between the two, with an initial investment of $ one million
each from both the sides. Through this partnership Nimbus intends to buy
all kinds of sports right in India and cricket rights internationally. This
partnership will bring in a new dimension to Indian sports by distributing
Indian sports content worldwide.
