TELUGU:

Yama Jathakudu
Schedule at Mahabaleshwar

THE unit of Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures Yamajathakudu has returned from Mahabaleshwar after canning some vital action sequences on Mohan Babu, Srihari and Bharani along with a host of stuntmen. For the first time, canon blasting technology from Mumbai was used in a Telugu film, with Mohan Babu who believes in spending lavishly to ensure quality, has forked out Rs 12 lakh for the four-minute sequence. Action director Vijayan shot the sequence with four cameras and a remote controlled aeroplane. The main problem with the dummy plane is that if the artistes are not sharp enough, it could lead to disasters and serious accidents. But Mohan Babu daringly participated in the shot and completed it despite director Shankar insisting on using a duplicate. Sakshi Sivanand, Sadhika and Raksha play the female lead and Rajendraprasad plays a key role in the film's Yamalokam episode. When SCREEN visited the sets at Venkateswara Temple at Allwyn Nagar, Hyderabad, a scene featuring Mohan Babu and child artiste Neharika was being shot. Mohan Babu visits a temple along with his neice. With the young Neharika giving a perfect shot like a seasoned artiste, the scene was okayed the minimum of fuss.
Mohan Babu said, "We could have shot this sequence by erecting a set at Hyderabad itself but since we wanted a natural backdrop we went all the way to Mahabaleshwar. We saw Panchgani and the place where five rivers originate, and decided this was the place for us."
