Satinder Veer

A dream come true

Recently, HMV released a Punjabi pop album Dhing-Tika, with which Satinder Veer makes his debut in the music world.

Satinder’s name is not unknown to music lovers. For the past few years, he has been performing with the musical group The True all over the country. Inspite of being interested in music right from his childhood days, and winning many prices in college in Jhansi, he did not get any encouragement from his family. "Music was always my first love, and it was my dream to do something in the field of music. Though I got a job abroad, and even worked there for some years, I came back to pursue my passion," says Satinder.

Dhing-Tika is the realisation of his dream. But it was not a cake walk for the singer as he had to struggle a lot to bring out this album. Some music companies promised that they would give him a break, but did not stick to their word. HMV saw the potential in him and released Dhing-Tika.

Satinder has sung and composed music for the album, which has lyrics by well-known Punjabi lyricist Babu Singh Mann.

Satinder is a disciple of Pandit Satya Narayan Mishra and Ustad Aiyaz Khan. He has also performed under the auspicies of Sur-Singar Samsad, which has promoted stalwarts like Jagjit Singh and Hariharan. He is completely at ease singing Indian pop, film songs, ghazals, bhajans and semi-classical numbers.

The response to Dhing-Tika is encouraging and Satinder is thrilled. He is already working on his next album. "It’s just the beginning," he concludes. l
