Geeta DuttGEETA DUTT - THE IRREPRESSIBLE
HMV; Rs. 50
This album has 20 of Geeta Dutt’s hits. She is one singer, who in a very short career, made the most impact. Her unique voice could sound naughty, sensuous and melancholic as evident in the variety of numbers she sang. Listening to each of the numbers, you are transformed into another world. Her rapport with music directors like S.D. Burman and O.P. Nayyar was special, and she gave her best to their compositions. Although the popular belief was that her voice suited the vampish and sensuous songs the most, she made more impact in soulful numbers. Her personality gave a mysterious aura to the songs which always managed to tug at the strings of your heart. The compilation here includes evergreen songs like Mera sundar sapna beet gaya (Do Bhai), Ghunghat ke pat khol (Jogan), Tadbeer se bigdi hui (Baazi), Babuji dheere chalna (Aar Paar), Yeh lo main haari piya (Aar Paar), Thandi hawa kaali ghata (Mr & Mrs 55), Mera naam Chin Chin Choo (Howrah Bridge), Jaata kahan hai deewane (CID), Aye dil mujhe bata de (BHai Bhai), Jaane kya tune kahi (Pyaasa), Hawa dheere aana (Sujata), Waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam (Kagaz Ke Phool), Na jaao saiyan (Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam) and Koi chupke se aake (Anubhav) to name some. This is one album you can’t seem to have enough of.

Kishore Kumar KISHORE KUMAR - ROMANTIC HITS
HMV; Rs. 50
This enigmatic singer was an entertainer in the true sense of the word and his numbers continue to enthrall listeners even today. A born actor, he could make you laugh and cry through his songs. One of the reasons could be that the actor in him made him understand the finer nuances of emotions which he conveyed effectively in his songs. Kishore Kumar’s versatility can’t be expressed in words, but everyone will vouch that he was just too good in romantic and light numbers. So here we have a compilation of his greatest romantic hits. There’s Roop tera mastana (Aradhana), Tum bin jaaon kahan (Pyar Ka Mausam), Jeevan se bhari (Safar), Phoolon ke rang se (Prem Pujari), Sama hai suhana (Ghar GHar Ki Kahani), Yeh shaam mastani (Kati Patang), Mere dil mein aaj kya hai (Daag), O mere dil ke chain (Mere Jeevan Saathi), O hansini (Zehreela Insaan) and Humein tumse pyar Kitna (Kudrat). These songs have helped immortalise the concept of love and are hummed by everyone, since every person is a romantic at heart.
