HIGHLY RISKY'PYAAR'

G S Entertainments Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya is definitely a let down right from the start. The story goes, if it does, of a family tucked away in a beautiful farmhouse that consists of a Chacha Thakur (Dharmendra), his nephew Vishal (Arbaaz Khan) and sister Muskan (Kajol). From here shift to the city, where hero, Suraj (Salman Khan) is studying in a college and is showered with money rather than love. So poor lovelorn city boy meets sweet belle from the hills and they fall in love. What follows are a few comic capers on campus that at most times fall flat. There are the odd laughs, but not enough to have you glued to your seat.

From the city, shift back to the dear old hills and streams. Where love blossoms, but definitely not with the sanction of Bade Bhaiya. A few knocks here and a few there are not enough for Suraj to win over Bade Bhaiya. His little sister is too precious for the likes of Suraj. But ultimately love triumphs and all ends at least as far as the end draws near.

Poor Kajol, she tries her level best to rise above a no-script and with little or no support from her costars. At least the effort shows. Salman Khan has used the film as a platform to show and reveal. Wish he had concentrated more on his talents of which one sees glimpses in plenty. Sohail Khan did not know really which foot he had to put forward. Whether to concentrate on his brother’s acting, directing or script writing. As for Arbaaz, he did not know whether to be serious or laugh at most times in the film.

Music by Jatin-Lalit which could have salvaged the film, fails to grip except for the catchy number Aao, aao jaane jaana, dhoonde tujhe deewana. Mention though can be made of Ujala (Anjala Zaveri) who plays Kajol’s friend. Given her small role, she does have good moments in the film.

All things considered, the film is passable.
