The Great Escapes

Having already drawn widespread attention in the US and Europe as “spooky” and “prophetic” for its ability to predict real-life terrorism incidents, CIA-themed series The Agency premiered in India exclusively on AXN, on April 2, at 8.00 p.m.

The pilot episode in the US, dealing with a terrorist threat in Europe linked to Osama bin Laden and the Al-Qaeda group, had to be withdrawn due to sensitive reasons post September 11, 2001, tragedy. Another episode of The Agency also shows anthrax attacks on Washington which has an uncanny co-incidence with the real-life anthrax events that led to one death and threatened many other lives in the US post the September 11, tragedy.

Directed by blockbuster filmmaker Wolfgang Petersen (The Perfect Storm, Air Force One, In The Line Of Fire), is about the inner workings of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Presenting a realistic version of the CIA, its political process and intelligence-gathering the way it actually happens. ‘The Agency’ gives glimpses at the kind of people who work and live clandestinely to ensure the safety and security of the United States and its allies.

The cast includes Gil Bellows (who starred as Billy Thomas in Ally McBeal) and introduces three-time Emmy winner, Beau Bridges as the new CIA director.

According to Rohit Bhandari, senior marketing manager, SET (I) Ltd., “The Agency is as real-life as it can get. AXN is proud to lay claim to this property for the exclusive premiere broadcast in India, and we’re sure viewers will be completely engrossed by this gripping and expertly-made series throughout its run.” He added, “Drama series like The Agency and CSI are peerless. Viewers in India are starting to experience the buzz when they tune in to AXN, all thanks to the great programming line-up that has been carefully crafted and implemented.”
