Rajesh Ramanathan, popular music director of Kannada cinema, who had hit a hattrick in the last year with three consecutive hits - Yajamana, Kanasugara and Huchcha, is in the news again. He is appearing as the hero in the Kannada film Black and White along with three more responsibilities. He plays a double role as well as scores the music for the six songs in the film. Incidentally, this is Rajesh Ramanathan’s 50th film as the music director in a span of ten years.

Addressing the media at the Malleswaram Club in Bangalore, a happy looking Rajesh Ramanathan spoke about his career taking a new turn. He introduced the team to the press. The film has two directors Jayakumar and Palani, a new cinematographer and a new heroine Priya. The producer of this film is Janardhan, the famous editor of Kannada films.

“This film is all about love and friendship. The shooting starts soon,” he said explaining with confidence that he is ready to do hard work. “I felt the chance and time has come for me to do something different.”

Mohan, proprietor of Anand Audio, speaking on the occasion, expressed his confidence in the music director as he had given several hits for his company. “In Black and White too, he has scored good tunes,” he said.

Director Jayakumar prefers his work to speak for itself. He has been associated with production, distribution and preparation of script for the last seven years in the Kannada film industry.

Priya makes her debut as the heroine in Black and White. Talking about herself, she says, “Confidence and belief in onself are pivotal. My first film with Rajesh Ramanthanji is touching and will tap my talent to the fullest. I am a Bharat Natyam dancer so it is easy for me to emote. Kannan Maral is my guru and I had my arangetram when I was in the tenth standard. I completed my graduation from the National College in Science and strongly believe that I have made the right choice in doing Black and White. A role that is tailormade for a senior actress has been offered to me as my debut film.”

Coming from Kirloskar Colony in Kamalanagar in Bangalore, Priya is firm in her decisions. She likes atching films, listening to music and attending film festivals.

An ardent fan of Kannada actress Manjula, Priya hopes to do similar roles like that of the late actress. She has no hassles as far as costumes are concerned. “Jaisa scene waise kapade hone chayiye,” grins Priya. A staunch believer in Gd,Priya is her mother’s pet. Both her father and brother are businessman in Bangalore.
