Pakistans
well-known pop singer Junaid Jamshaid has announced his retirement.
He gained enormous popularity as a solo singer and as a member of
Vital Signs band. The good-looking singer was ruling the roost,
but in recent years, had become very religious. The singer now plans
to completely devote his life to religion. He announced his retirement
at a press conference at the Lahore Press Club.
Junaid had
been offered film roles but had turned them down, and restricted
his singing career to pop music alone. He did appear in TV commercials,
selling everything from tea to milk to joshanda.

Manhar performs at Shirdi
Singer Manhar
Udhas, a devotee of Sai Baba, gave a devotional concert dedicated
to Sai Baba, in Shirdi on March 31. The concert was free and everybody
could join in singing praises to Baba.
Udhas, who
has released a number of albums in Babas honour, will be releasing
his new album titled Sai Dhyan. The album has lyrics penned by Salim
Rasikh which are in keeping with the style of Kabir.
The tunes are traditional.
Roger
Waters of Pink Floyd to perform in Bangalore
Roger
Waters, the creator of popular rock band Pink Floyd, will be performing
in Bangalore, on April 13, at a three-hour concert. Waters is performing
for the first time in this part of the world.
According to
T. Venkat Vardhan, MD, DNA Networks, Music lovers in India
will witness for the first time the ultimate audio experience of
a 360 degree quadraphonic sound system, including gigantic surround
sound. The three-hour music extravaganza will be combined with luminous
psychedelic graphics and all the signature technology effects of
a Floyd show.
The concert
will feature hit songs of Pink Floyd rendered by Waters. The singer
will be in Bangalore alongwith 32 tonnes of equipment to perform
and re-create the magic of Pink Floyd.
Titled Roger
Waters- In The Flesh - Creative Genius of Pink Floyd, will have
classics such as Another brick in the wall, Mother, Money, Time,
Breathe, Comfortably numb and Animals. The venue will have three
enclosures to comfortably accommodate the expected audience of 30,000
people.
