Sweetie is back

Sweetie is back in action. Apart from acting in the new comedy serial on Sony Hum Hain Dilwale, starting from March 7, at 8.00 pm, she has come out with a daily soap on Sahara Har Mod Par, starting March 4, at 8.30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Very upbeat after holidaying in various parts of the world, Rakhi Tandon, populary known as Sweetie (of Hum Paanch), is back as a producer and actress. At the launch party Rakhi confessed “I was touched by one incident I read in the paper and Har Mod Par is a result of that.” The serial is about child marriage, sati system and other related issues connected with the evils of the society. “I am trying my level best to enlight the educated and uneducated viewers of the nation that these things still do happen in the interiors of our country. Even though, government has abolished such mal practices they are still part of our existence. It’s sad and I do hope my serial will be an eye opener.”
Har Mod Par is a story of a young girl who becomes a widow on the day of her wedding. Kirti Gaekwad (of Jai Santoshi Ma), plays the innocent Hansa, who has to go through an ordeal. When she was asked why she didn’t prefer a well-known actress to play the role, Rakhi says, “I needed a young innocent girl and I finalised Kirti after screen testing 400 odd girls. I had to work on her and I am glad she has delivered what I required for the character Hansa.” Explaining the title of the serial she says, “In the life of a woman, there are two turning points - one, when she becomes a bride and second, when she becomes a widow. My serial depicts the agony, pains, sufferings and social evils of the system.

No, Rakhi is not acting in the serial but has put her heart and soul in all the aspects of production. The star cast includes Kirti Gaekwad, Avinder Batra, Mital Bhattcharya, Renu Pandey, Prachi Mishra, Paintal, Anita Kanwal, Pramod Mautho and Gufi Paintal.

As for the serial in which she is acting, Rakhi gleefully says, “I am back with Hum Hain Dilwale, which is premiering on March 7, at 8.00 pm on Sony. Isn’t it a perfect time for both the serials to come on the screen? I do hope audiences will like and appreciate both my work as a producer and actress. It’s out and out comedy and I am sure one and all will enjoy it.” What does she think of comedy serials? Pat comes the reply, “Everybody wants to enjoy comedies and they look forward to a good one. But I tell you, it’s really tough to make people laugh. I am really surprised how I managed to portray the role of Sweetie even today. The best part is that people still cannot get over it and call me Sweetie in my real life. I am really honoured for the compliments and love of my fans.”
To conclude, Rakhi says, “If I can make people laugh through Hum Paanch, I do hope that my Har Mod Par will make people realise the atrocities of the evil system and customs of our country.”
