Friends
Disappointing
fare!
This is a remake
of the Telugu film Six Teens and the Kananda version is tolerable
for its message and guiding the youth to the right direction. Yet
to an extent, as the nakhras of the spoil brats are intolerable.
However, with new starcast, director MD Sridhar has churned out
a mediocre film.
Four youth
out of five are wayward and their aim in life is to share a night
with beautiful Ankitha (Ruthika). The four struggle to fulfil their
wish in the first half and finally admit their plans to each other.
Ankitha gracefully accepts their intentions and she agrees to meet
them on April 1. On the due day, the four eagerly wait in the queue
to share the pleasure with Ankitha. But as they reach the bedroom,
one by one gets beaten by her. But it is not the case with the fourth
one as he is dead serious about what he wants.
The only saving
grace in the film is bringing to light the importance of education
and how it is important in life. There are many inconsequential
scenes. Editing is jerky and double meaning dialogues have entered
Kannada industry once again.
Ruthika has
emoted well. The five friends do not attract. The comedy track of
Mimicry Dayanand and Rekha Das is also boring. Made under the banner
of Komal Enterprises, the film is produced by MC Neha and directed
by MD Sridhar. It has dialogue by BA Madhu, music by J Krishna and
cinematography by Ramana. The film stars Ruthika, Vasu, Anand, Sharan,
Sham, Mimicry Dayanand and Rekha Das.
Manase Oh Manase
Same
old theme
This
film by media king Dr Ramoji Rao, a remake of an old Telugu film
Manasu Mamatha, is actually fit for a television serial. The suspense
is revealed to all but the hero. How does he react is what keeps
us guessing. This kind of film saw big days on big screen two decades
ago not any longer.
Abijit is in
love with Shruthi, the daughter of a middle class family. Just before
their marriage, on a rainy night they succumb to each others
desires. While returning home Abijit dies in an accident and Shruthis
life takes a new turn. She is engaged to Ramkumar. But after fifteen
days of her marriage, Shruthi is declared pregnant. Ramkumar does
not suspect his wife. And just before the first half is over, Shruthi
and Ramkumar have an eight year old son and four year old daughter.
For eight long years, Shruthi doesnt reveal anything to her
husband and bears the feeling of cheating her husband. But when
Anant Nag, Abijits father, comes, the past is revealed. Ramkumar
overhears a cordial talk between Anant Nag and Shruthi. He is furious
and the impact of it falls on the two kids. For the innocent son
born out of wedlock, it is a baffling situation. On accepting her
fate, Shruthi walks out of the house with her son. The separated
kids find it difficult to cope up with life. One day the brother
and sister meet in the school and they decide to elope.
Ramkumar still
lives in the shadow of his father-in-law Dr Rajkumar. His dialogue
delivery reminds one of Dr Rajkumar. Shruthis voice has been
dubbed and it is awful. Anant Nag is his usual self and the comedy
by Doddanna and Mandya Ramesh is okay. Master Pranam, son of hero
Devraj, who makes his debut, is a good choice and he is at ease
in acting. Music and cinematography is below average.
Produced by
Dr.Ramoji Rao, the film has story and screenplay by Chandramouli,
direction by MS Rajasekhar, music by V Manohar and cinematography
by Prasad Babu. The film stars Ramkumar, Shruthi, Anant Nag, Abijit,
Chitra Shenoy, Master Pranam, Mandya Rameeh, Sriraksha and Doddanna.
