Dilip in Vijaykant film

Dilip was the lucky star last year in Malayalam cinema. After a string of hits, he is now one of the busiest actors and though many producers from Tamil Nadu tried to book him, it was not possible. Producer-director Manoj Kumar is known to achieve the impossible. He got the real life lovers Raju Sundaram and Simran to act in I Love U Daa. He went all way to Pollachi where Dilip was staying. But Dilip politely told him to come at the end of 2002. Manoj requested that he hear the story.

“Whether you do the film or not, I want to narrate the story to you. I want you to remember me as the man who told you a good story,” was Manoj’s plea. Story session over and Manoj has come back with Dilip’s dates. Lucky he.

“Dilip has shifted dates of his other films and has managed to give me 20 days in one go. He was happy that he is doing a Tamil film where he is playing Vijaykant’s brother. His acting talents had always attracted me and he is so simple that he did not want a five star hotel accommodation and opted to stay in a guest house,” revealed Manoj giving final touches to Rajiyam.

Rajiyam has no political overtones. Its about a security service agency run by Vijayakant and the world in which he operates. The film is also about an elder brother’s love for the younger brother Dilip. Shamita Shetty makes her debut as the heroine opposite Vijaykant and Priyanka Trivedi is paired opposite Dilip.

In all his films, Manoj has a contest where anyone guesses a scene in advance will win Rs 50,000. This time he has raised the amount to Rs 5 lakhs.

The film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by Karthik Raja and the film is being readied for release in April.
