For
the first time on Indian television, heres a contest that
incorporates not just adventure but reality too. Romance Adventure
Aap Aur Hum (RAAAH) for short, is Miditechs latest effort
at pushing the envelope of television entertainment. Set in spectacular
locations like the stark Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh and the
arid sand dunes of Rajashtan, this gruelling competition requires
the contestants to give it their all - physically, emotionally and
intellectually.
It takes care
of the adventure part. What about the romance? The contestants are
married couples. They take on the challenges as a team, putting
to the test their relationship. Up for grabs are apartments, the
latest cars, luxury cruises, adventure gear and much more. The teams
face off, in especially designed games that are sometimes quirky,
sometimes dangerous but always riveting. With one couple eliminated
at the end of each episode, ultimately, in the final episode theres
an exciting climax where the last two couples go head to head. Its
a show where ordinary people go on to do extraordinary things. Things
they themselves were never sure they could, and that goes not just
for the contestants, but for those behind the scenes too.
RAAAH has proved
to be one of the most logistically challenging projects for Miditech.
But with the past experience of its other reality show Hospital,
under its belt, Miditech is up to the task. Done on a war footing,
the production needs a crew as large as seventy people including
seven camera units, as well as adventure and safety instructors,
given the complex technical requirements. And all this in remote,
inaccessible areas with no communication systems in place. Both
in front of the camera and behind, teamwork is often the deciding
factor. A refreshing change from the usual soapy fare will RAAAH
be the mother of all game shows? Wait and watch. RAAAH premiered
on January 13, Sunday, at noon on Zee TV.
