Sahara TV’s recently launched serials, Apnapan and Zindagi... Teri Meri Kahani, are enjoying increasing popularity with its viewers reinforcing the fact that family dramas are still captivating the Indian audiences across the board. The immense popularity of these two programmes has helped Sahara TV increase its viewership base making the channel a major player in the Indian television industry.

Apnapan, (Monday to Friday at 1.30 & 11.00 pm), is the story of Dayanand family who are torn apart following the death of Karuna, the binding force of the family. The 16-year-old grand-daughter Sheila who returns home from US, teams up with her grand-father to unite the estranged family. Produced by SIMCL, Apnapan is directed by Chander Behl and V Menon. The major attraction of the serial are the great ensemble of actors like Kiran Kumar, Pramod Mautho, Shagufta Ali, Satyen Kappo, Swati Chitnis and others. Zindagi... Teri Meri Kahani (Friday at 8.30 pm) reflects the changing values of today’s society and an individual’s need to find his own identity. An engrossing story of marital discord, the story is set in a contemporary backdrop with credible and identifiable characters. It is the story of Rahul and Medha and the changes of their relationship which undergoes various turbulence in their lives. Produced by A.V. Telefilms, Zindagi... Teri Meri Kahani has a fabulous star cast comprising of Arun Govil, Rohini Hattangadi, Priya Tendulkar, Savita Prahune, Parmeet Sethi, Iravati Harshe, Salil Ankola, Mrinal Kulkarni and Raju Samtani.

Win TV channel launched

Win TV, a 24-hour Tamil satellite channel with focus on humour was launched here recently. The channel, headed by businessman T Devanathan, was inaugurated by Malaysian Deputy Minister Dato S Subramaniam at a glittering function in Chennai. “This pay channel is meant to provoke laughter and will show previews of Tamil movies every Sunday,” he said at the function. The channel is aimed at catering to the Tamils in India and those in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Sri Lanka and the Gulf. “Win TV will be a channel with sweeping laughter among weepingones,” he added. The channel had entered into agreements with film producers for telecasting film premiers on its channel.
