As 2002 dawned Vinta Nanda blazed another trail. She stepped into Zee TV as Director of Ideation. A specially created post, Vinta heads a team of creative people -- writers, directors, etc. who will source content for the entire network. They will ideate, listen, brainstorm, replicate their findings and experiment. "This is a very special department which has been created," says Vinta. "They (Zee TV) are the first ones to realise the need for a central cell which continuously creates and experiments, and then implements."

Vinta is all charged and excited about her newfound vocation as she creates and puts the structure into place. She has no regrets about putting her own aspirations of making films on the back burner, "I could always make a film later, but an opportunity like this is not likely to come again, my friends reminded me," says Vinta.

Vinta’s association with Zee TV goes back to almost a decade or so when the network was finding its feet and Vinta was scripting Tara that pathbreaking serial about single women which became synonymous with Zee TV and Vinta Nanda. Vinta takes into Zee all the experience she has had over the last decade as a writer and a practitioner of the medium. The fortunate ones who will be in her team and those she trains as she will impart all that she has learnt and experienced over the last decade.

Over the next one year, Vinta Nanda will be creating the infrastructure for ideas to develop at Zee Network and flow into all its channels. As she concedes, "We are not talking about one channel but a whole bouquet of channels in Hindi and the regional languages, entertainment and news." For Vinta and her team putting the network back in the race is the challenge for the year ahead.
