Manoj Kumar who directed Vanavil, Guru Parvai and is currently the producer of I Love U Daa starring Simran and Raju Sundaram in the lead has launched his next film Rajyiam which he directs and produces under the banner of Guru Films. Vijaykant plays the lead opposite Priyanka Trivedi. Two more heroines are to be finalised. Starring Prakashraj, Raghuvaran, Nazar, Goundamani and Senthil, the film has cinematography by Karthikraja and music by Bharadwaj.

Rafi-Mercartin to direct Thenkasipattanam in Tamil

The hit Malayalam film Thenkasipattanam, starring Suresh Gopi and Lal in the lead was to be directed by Manoj Kumar. Sarath Kumar, Napolean and Vivek were signed by producer Durairaj for the remake. However, a change in Vijaykant’s dates and the postponement of Thavasi due to Soundarya’s dates, Vijaykant offered Manoj the dates. Sarath Kumar too was busy with his political campaigning for DMK in the local bodies election. Now Rafi-Mercartin, the directors of the original film who are busy with the scripting of their next film for Lal Productions in Malayalam have agreed to direct the remake also.

Meena not to act in Japanese film

Meena, who starred in the Rajnikant-starrer Muthu which ran to full houses in Japan was offered a Japanese film. However Meena was asked to speak in Japanese language and this she refused to do so. The Japanese producers were not keen to have her voice dubbed by someone else.

RB Chowdury to produce Thullatha Mannam Thullum in Hindi

Super Good Films RB Chowdury, one of the most successful film producers of Tamil and Telugu films, had remade his Thullatha Manam Thullum, starring Vijay and Simran in Telugu and Kannada and both were hits. Now he is producing the film in Hindi with Simran as the heroine. The search for the hero is on. Chowdury currently has a Govinda-starrer on the floors directed by Sasi. It is the remake of the Tamil film Sollamaley.

Writer turns director

RNR Manohar, the dialogue writer of Pulmaipithan, Kolangal and Kanukul Kannahe makes his debut as the director with Vetrivel, produced by Lovely International. The film has Sathyaraj and Pratuksha in the lead. Cinematography by Illavarasu and music by Iman are the other credits.

Gopinath signs Prabhu

Gopinath, who produced hit films like Mouna Geethangal, Chuvar Illatha Chitrangal and Ithu Nama Aal now comes back to production after a long gap. It is being made under the banner of Srisakthi Pictures. He has launched En Uyire with Prabhu in the lead. K Veeramani, associate of V Sekar, is the director and Nivas who was the cameraman of 16 Vayithinile and Sigappu Rojakal makes his re-entry in this film. Music is by Bharani.

Shankar to direct Rajanikant?

The industry is rife with reports that Shankar is to direct Rajanikant in his next film which is to be produced by AM Rathinam. Rajanikant had made it a policy to act in only his home productions and has been following it for last several years. According to media reports, the film is said to be launched on Vijayadasmi day. Inquiries with sources close to Rajanikant revealed that the superstar was conducting his grihapravesam (house warming ceremony) of his farm house located on the outskirts of Chennai on this day. He was also scheduled to attend the launch of GV Films Ltd’s venture starring Vijay and Priyanka Chopra.
