Indrani Haldar
was upset about our last issue where we mentioned about her doing
some explicit scenes in Benagali films. Apparently there was a communciation
gap. What she meant, she says, was controversial subjects and not
controversial scenes. Its a womans prerogative to interepret
it the way she wants and Haldar is no ordinary woman, as we see
in Maa Shakti.
The actress
plays nine different deities in the serial. She is one actress,
who speaks more through her eyes.Meticulous to a fault, she doesnt
start shooting unless shes satisfied with her get-up, the
mark of a true professional. Indrani is also acting in Kudrat, and
is looking forward to working in Hindi movies with directors of
substance. For Indrani, creative satisfaction tops her list of priorities.
Shes doing Shakti Samantas Devdas in Bengali, playing
Chandramukhi opposite Prasanjit. In Hindi cinema, negotiations are
on for several projects, and she has her fingers crossed as far
as signing on the dotted line goes.
However, the
question remains will she triumph in Mumbai as she has in Tollywood?
Her fans and well-wishers would definitely want her to!
Aaj
Tak in Afghanistan
Aaj Tak, Indias
number one news channel, has notched another first since its launch
nine months ago. The channels reporting team has reached Northern
Afghanistan battlefronts to give its viewers a first hand account
of the ongoing war in the region. Prabal Pratap Singh, principal
correspondent and Rajeev Gupta, Cameraman have both entered Afghanistan
through its Northern borders. This is for the first time in the
current conflict that any reporting team from South Asia has managed
to reach Afghanistan. The region has been out of bounds for journalists
from the region. Only correspondents from some Western countries
have been given restricted access to the region. Aaj Tak since its
inception has always been first with breaking news and giving in-depth
reportage of fast developing events. Whether it was the mammoth
Kumbh mela, Gujarat earthquake or the crisis in Nepal, Aaj Tak was
always the first to break news and follow it up by sending its teams
to the trouble spots. The channel has always come out with first
pictures and first hand information from the field. Keeping up with
its now established tradition the channel will be serving its viewers
with fresh information from the Afghan warfront. Indian viewers
will now be able to get information first hand with an Indian perspective.
Storybook
Scandals on Hallmark
Hallmark Channel
announces Storybook Scandals, a special weekend event featuring
the premieres of two original films on October 27 and 28. Hallmarks
contemporary re-telling of popular fairy tales Prince Charming
and Snow White brings a twist to these classic stories, appealing
to adults and children alike. The extraordinary cast members that
bring the characters to life are Martin Shorts, Christina Applegate,
Sean Maguire, Andrea Martin, Miranda Richardson, Kristin Kreuk and
Tom Irwin.
This film fest
is available exclusively on the Hallmark Channel. The two timeless
classics - Prince Charming and Snow White were reinvented with a
contemporary twist for this festival. All this just to bring out
the inner child in adults.
Snow White has
twisted new tale, which follows a snooty teenager named Snow White
(Kristin Kreuk), an evil queen (Miranda Richardson) and seven mischievous
dwarves in a breathtaking spectacle. The special effects and the
extraordinary cast is worth every penny to enjoy these two classics
in its new format. Blending a classic fairy tale with the zany Martin
Short, what you get is hilarious. As for Prince Charming, when Prince
John (Sean Maguire) is found cheating on his new wife, the wizard
casts a spell that lands the prince and his squire (Martin Short)
as frogs in Central Parks pond. In the classic fashion of
the original, Prince John is forced to find his true love or live
as a frog forever. Prince Charming also stars Christina Applegate
as a fast talking cabby and Andrea Martin as a wardrobe mistress
to a Broadway starlet played by Bernadette Peters.
