Yesteryear silver screen actress-turned-television-producer-director Asha Parekh’s soap ‘Kora Kagaz’ which is about to complete three years on Star Plus is now on its last leg. A story of a young woman who is abandoned by her husband on the wedding night and gradually gets drawn to her younger brother-in-law, the serial which is presently at the crucial juncture and racing towards the climax will wind up in the next few weeks. Having gone through layers of sub-plots, surprising twists and different shades of relationships and dramatic moments, the all important question viewers are asking is whether the submissive Pooja who got her voice and asserted her love for Ravi will eventually get married to her brother-in-law. It is a question, going by the viewers’ response, is uppermost in the audience’s mind. But first a brief summary of the serial’s story for the benefit of those who tuned in late to ‘Kora Kagaz’. Mahesh(Amit Behl) who is in love with Shalini(Gurusha Kapoor) gets married to Pooja(Renuka Shahane) against his wishes. On the wedding night he confesses his love for Shalini to Pooja and leaves for Bangalore with Shalini. Pooja decides to live in her in-laws’ house and gradually finds sympathy, understanding and love and attention from her brother-in-law Ravi(Salil Ankola). Their fondness for each other grows and five years later Mahesh returns home because of his differences with Shalini. He starts developing a soft corner for Pooja but she rejects his overtures and confesses her love for Ravi. Meanwhile Ravi gets entangled in a triangle with the entry of Neha in his life and later meets with an accident and loses his memory.

Then Shalini returns in Mahesh’s life and get married. Now Ravi who has not got his memory back is no more in love with Pooja and his mother is forcing him to marry Neha. So what happens now? Now that Mahesh is married, will Pooja marry Ravi? Asha Parekh while admitting that she is working on the most crucial and interesting segment of the story which is about to wind up in another few weeks says viewers are getting hyper to know what will happen to the relationship between Pooja and Ravi. “Viewers are very keen that they should get married,” discloses the producer-director quite proud of the fact that ‘Kora Kagaz’ is the second longest weekly soap on Star Plus. “But there are various possibilities. The marriage may not happen. Ravi may get married to Neha or he may want to marry Pooja but she refuses to marry him and instead opts to live on her own as a single woman. The last possibility is that they may get married as viewers want to see them happy and together.” But if one goes by the serial’s title and theme song, Pooja should not marry Ravi. “Well, I can’t say anything because we are yet to decide the end,” says Asha Parekh with a diplomatic smile and declines to reveal whether the serial will end as per the wishes of the viewers.

But according to Renuka Shahane, there are two possibilities – either Pooja and Ravi get married or they don’t. “But the majority of viewers want them to get married. And right now the way the story is progressing, the end is open to both possibilities. But if Ashaji sticks to the original end that she had narrated to me then Pooja should marry Ravi,” smiles Renuka in her characteristic ear-to-ear grin. So if one reads between the lines, there will be happy end to ‘Kora Kagaz’ and Pooja who longed for love and affection and marital bliss these past three years will have a big smile on her face and viewers will be happy to see Pooja happy and content.
