This series features amazing wildlife stories from Kenya, California, Ireland and Britain. The program’s hosts include Michaela Strachan, Howie Watkins, Janice Acquah and Nick Baker. Howie introduces viewers to a man who gives elephants massages for a living - Tony Neyin, from Cheltenham, is a wildlife osteopath. Howie’s next stop is Kenya, where he meets five-year-old Oliver Smith. Oliver’s father runs a chimp sanctuary and Oliver looks upon Sophie, a six-year old orphaned chimp, as his own sister. Meanwhile, Janice meets 14-year-old Cherry Smith who runs a bat hospital, and Michaela finds out how porcupines look after themselves.

Selfish Nature — Aug. 18, 9.00 p.m.
This series features unique footage of birds and animals from around the world. Simon King’s extraordinary documentaries look at some of the more unusual aspects of behaviour within Nature’s extensive family showing how animals deal with the daily routines of life common to us all. Male spiders have to be very resourceful when it comes to mating, since they are just as likely to end up a meal as a mate! One species of spider has evolved an effective method of survival by producing the much larger female with a present, perhaps a dead fly, to distract her while he gets on with more pressing business! This episode also follows the black-head gull as he swoops down in a perfectly-timed raid to steal hardearned food from the beaks of passing lapwings.

Last Primates of Madagascar — Aug. 21, 9.00 p.m.
Steve and Terri Irwin, might just be the hardest-working couple in the natural world. They make it their mission to rescue and protect the incredibly diverse creatures of the Australian outback. Often endangering themselves in the line of duty, this adventurous couple thinks nothing of rappelling into canverns to rescue an orphaned baby kangaroo, or of handling highly dangerous snakes, lizards and crocodiles. Travel with Steve and Terri as they venture to the United States, Africa, Indonesia, Egypt, and Alaska. There are only four species of lemurs left in Madagascar and Steve sets out to track them down. His adventure takes him through many remote parts of the country on bike, which allows him to experience the villages and local life.

A Visit to the Nurse — Aug. 22, 5 p.m.
Renowned shark expert Ian Gordon takes viewers on his passionate pursuit of the world’s most feared predators, making incredible new discoveries and dispelling a few myths along the way. Ian introduces viewers to the Grey Nurse shark. The Grey Nurse is a popular species with aquariums because of its nature and ability to adapt to a range of habitats and conditions. Viewers witness with Ian the incredible battle for survival going on within a pregnant Grey Nurse.
