His initiation into theatre began with the Indian Peoples Theatre Association (IPTA) where he attended several workshops. Hima Kala Kendra was his next training ground. Here, he played Hortenchio in Shakespeare’s celebrated comedy, Taming of the Shrew. He also got to work with Kamala Ramchandani and Madhulika Verma in a play called Witness (about the social evil of dowry) in which he played the negative lead, followed by SOS - A Musical, which dealt with the issue of AIDS victims. Janak Toprani’s Vasavadatta, the grand historical, had him play a young prince along with Bikram Saluja. All the aforementioned plays, with the exception of Taming of the Shrew travelled across India.

For any aspiring actor, these may be credentials that are impressive enough. But with Ritesh Sinha, these are not all. He’s even made his presence felt on the telly. He started off with a two-hour mini series for producer-director Vinod Pandey’s The Mask for D Line on Sahara Television, where he played the negative lead in an episode based on the Jessica Lall murder case. He has also played interesting roles in serials like Kasam, Yeh Dil Kya Kare, Kabhi Sautan Kabhi Saheli (all of which are currently on air), Aakanksha - Hamare Sapnay (expected soon on Zee), Saturday Suspense, Rishtey and Gubbare.

Right from his days at Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai, he had set his sights on a career in showbiz. It is with that intention in mind that he groomed himself on the college stage, and participated in various inter-collegiate theatre festivals. Having passed out of college, he even studied acting at Kishore Namit Kapoor Academy. He is also fairly good at tennis, having made it to the national level in the junior league.

In advertising, he has even served a stint as assistant to the reputed adfilm director, Ayesha Sayani of Shunyata Films. With her, he shot several prestigious campaigns like Ponds, Kodak and Khaitan Fans. And as a model, he featured in prestigious campaigns like Vimal Suitings, British Airways, Kit Kat Chocolates, Maxtouch, Kinetic Scooter, Maruti, Jet Airways, Mitsubishi, Old Spice, BSL Suitings and Breeze.
