National Geographic Channel has revamped its programming schedule to present an unlimited range of appointment viewing and specialized programs with new timings. Apart from a sharp focus on genre wise consolidation of programmes, National Geographic Channel will air the programmes on a new prime slot that has shifted to 9.00-11.00 p.m. from 10.00-12.00 p.m.

With the change, National Geographic Channel viewers can watch two one-hour clear blocks of exciting programs, Mondays to Fridays. This includes amazing wildlife documentaries under Wild from 8.00-9.00 p.m. and Family Hour documentaries from 7.00-8.00 p.m. These were earlier aired only on Sundays. With the introduction of this new schedule, there will no repeats on the Channel in the evening.

There is ample Friday night excitement for National Geographic fans who can catch Friday Frontiers and Violent Earth — two dynamic one hour blocks of fast-paced series of documentaries on science, innovation and technology and climatic, devastation facts on prime time.

For real life experience of adventure and exploration, Adventure One series will be aired every Tuesday night at 10.00 p.m. For culture lovers, unique traveler’s tales under People and Places genre series will now be aired each Wednesday night.

One of the most popular series of National Geographic Channel are the National Geographic Specials that have been brought to prime time on Sundays and Mondays at 2100 hrs. These are multi million dollar, spectacular and the world’s most watched and honored documentary programs. Saturday Unlimited, a premiere three-hour block buster special with wide appeal and a new feature every week will be aired every Saturday from 1900-2000 hrs.

Commenting on the change in the programming schedule, Ward Platt, Managing Director, National Geographic Channel Asia said: ‘‘Our Channel is known for presenting compelling and credible documentaries. The National Geographic Channel has revamped its programming schedule to suit not only viewers but also attract advertisers through a change in program packaging and presentation time. All these programs specific to one genre have been placed under one strong program block which will attract appointment viewing.’’

He further added ‘‘The objective is to present programs of various genres ranging from wildlife to space and exploration to adventure in time zones that are friendly to viewers and suit all tastes and preferences at time slots that are very easy to watch. We hope the new programming schedule will suit the demands of our viewers.’’
