A new category-4 virus hits the internet

Puzha.com, the first interactive Malayalam portal, has launched four new channels for the Malayali community. There is a channel for kids only called ‘Kuttikalude Puzha’. The new channels include one for classics in Malayalam called ‘Puzha Classics’, one on folk-lore retrospective called ‘Nattarivu’ and another on astrology.

All these new attractions will be part of the main platform - the portal puzha.com. The portal organisers have succeeded in getting prominent figures to handle these new channels. Those who have agreed to work for the portal include writers of children’s literature and experts on Kerala folklore, according to puzha.com officials.

Puzha.com, a venture almost entirely funded by non-resident Keralites with an objective of promoting Kerala’s literature, culture and art among the younger generation, was launched in December 2000.
The portal also publishes a magazine by the same name. It has already featured works of more than 100 eminent and upcoming writers in Malayalam.

The portal’s top executives said that using the interactive features in the portal, those keen on getting their works published could easily do so using this portal. An easy-to-use Malayalam word processing package has also been made available for free download, which should enable users to publish in Malayalam.

As a collaborative attempt, the interactive features in puzha.com give the creative user opportunities to generate quality content for others, the official added.
