Where
have all the villains gone?
The
days of the villains indulging in all those dishum-dishum
and fights with their hands and legs and at the most with
their pyari rampuri have gone by. The new villains
have become experts or have to become experts in fighting
and making themselves aware of all that is going on in the
name of villainy all over the world. They have to move with
the times or make way for better villains to take over.
Ravi Chopra-Director
The
villain was once almost as important as the hero, till the
end of the film when the five feet tall hero suddenly gained
heavenly strength and beat the six feet tall villain to pulp.
They had their dens and denizens who were more monsters than
human beings. People have now seen through their games and
the villains are looked upon more as cartoons than villains.
Prakash Mehra-Filmmaker
Pran
was the greatest villain ever, a villain who truly struck
terror into other human beings. He was bad from head to toe.
He played the villain and gave a complex to the hero till
he changed tracks and became a good man. Whatever it may be,
villains may come and go, but Pran Sahab will always remain
the stuff of villainy in Hindi films.
Manoj Kumar-Filmmaker.
These
days, there are all kinds of villains but they are not the
kind of villains we had in the past. Today, a villain has
to be more an expert in using explosives, hand bombs and other
modern fighting equipments if they have to make it as good
villains. Acting, accept for a few, is not necessary at all
to be a perfect villain.
Danny Denzongpa-Villain
